To be diaphanous is to be transparent. Diaphanous portrays the body and femininity of a woman. It relates to the notion of confidence and empowerment of one’s own body through experimental alternative processes and post-production. The visual differences allow the “flaws” to shine through and become normalised as well as appear permanent and natural. This series is personal, intimate and relatable. The purpose is to emphasise the transparent reality of natural beauty through Lomography by mixing beauty and destruction as a result of soaking the film in various liquids.
